The Sting Ray is preferred by paddlers who enjoy a more relaxed or horizontal forward stroke style, featuring fiberglass-reinforced blades paired with a fiberglass shaft.

The carefully engineered Sting Ray blade shape is engineered to slice through the water with a silky-smooth, low-flutter forward stroke. The smaller blade size (91 sq. in) helps to limit fatigue caused by wind resistance. The upgraded fiberglass and nylon blade material is stronger, less flexible, and thicker, making it more durable and robust in the long run.

The 100% fiberglass shaft is durable, strong, corrosion-resistant, and lighter than commodity aluminum shafts, ensuring it will hold up over time without draining your energy while paddling. Fiberglass is also valued for its warmth, flexibility, and forgiving nature compared to aluminum. The shaft is ovalized where the hands go, providing more comfort and control while limiting blisters.

The Sting Ray's snap-button ferrule is tight-fitting, secure, and long-lasting, ensuring no wobbling or inefficiencies like those found in commodity systems. It's not as technically advanced as some modern ferrule systems, but it is one of the more robust options available. The ferrule comes with a 3-hole design for adjustable feather angles of 0° or 60°, offering left or right-hand control.

The 4-piece model is ideal for travel, packing, or storing in small spaces. Two snap-buttons are carefully placed in the blade pegs to allow for 4-piece disassembly, yet the tight-fitting 4pc blades feel just the same as the standard 2pc construction. The Sting Ray's specifications include a blade size of 6.5 x 18 in. (16.5 x 46 cm), a blade surface area of 92.5 sq. in., and a total weight of 33.5 oz. (950 g).
